Life Off-the-Grid

About Aztext Press

Aztext Press was founded in 2003 when publisher Cam Mather recognized a need for a book that would provide important information about living with renewable energy. Living in an “off-grid” home himself, he had searched for such a title and discovered that one did not exist. As luck would have it, he was introduced to William Kemp, a V.P. of Engineering for an energy sector corporation, who leads the development of low environmental impact hydroelectric and agricultural biogas systems. Bill is also a leading expert in small and mid-scale renewable energy technologies and lives in an off-grid home that he designed and built. Cam convinced Bill to share his extensive knowledge in a book and “The Renewable Energy Handbook for Homeowners” was born.

Due to this book’s very quick success, Bill was encouraged to apply his expertise to energy efficiency for urban “on-grid” homes and “$mart Power: An urban guide to renewable energy and energy efficiency” was the result.
Aztext Press has gone on to publish four other books;

  • “Biodiesel: Basics and Beyond”,
  • “The Zero-Carbon Car: Building the Car the Auto Industry Can’t Get Right”,
  • “Thriving During Challenging Times: The Energy, Food and Financial Independence Handbook”
  • and our newest book “The All You Can Eat Gardening Handbook”

as well as 4 DVDs under our “Solutions for Sustainability” Series title. Two of our DVDs “Biodiesel Basics” and Living With Renewable Energy” are companion videos to their books.  In “Grow Your Own Vegetables” Cam Mather shares 30 years of organic gardening experience and in “Home-Scale Wind Turbine Installation” Cam provides a step-by-step guide to installing your own wind turbine, which he filmed during the installation of his own home turbine.

“The Renewable Energy Handbook” was revised and updated and republished in 2009 in a larger 8″ x 10″ format.

“The All You Can Eat Gardening Handbook” was published in 2009 just in time for the gardening season! The book has been very well received – readers are finding it inspiring and educational without being intimidating!

“Little House Off the Grid” was written by Cam & Michelle Mather and published in 2011.

Look for these titles in your favourite bookstore or online at amazon or many other online stores. Cam & Michelle Mather’s books and DVDs are available at http://www.cammather.com
