Life Off-the-Grid

Upcoming Events

By Michelle Mather

We have arranged a number of speaking events for Cam in the next few weeks, so I thought I’d share the information with you in case you are interested and able to attend any of them. Just a reminder that if you live in Ontario and belong to a group that would like to invite Cam to speak at an event, please get in touch with us.

First of all, Cam will be speaking at the main branch of the Kingston Public Library tomorrow night (Tuesday, April 20) at 7 pm. This will be a gardening talk based on “The All You Can Eat Gardening Handbook” and a celebration of the launch of the book. Free admission and books will be available for purchase. The Kingston Whig-Standard newspaper featured an article about Cam and the gardening book with an announcement about the book talk at the library. I haven’t found that article online, but The Sarnia Observer apparently picked up the article and ran it too. Here’s the link to that;

Then on Wednesday, April 28 at 7 pm. Cam will be speaking to the Napanee Green Lights, a group of enviro conscious folks from the Napanee area. This event will take place at Mary Magdalene Anglican Church at 137 Robinson St, Napanee. Free admission and once again, books will be available.

On Tuesday, May 4 Cam will be speaking up in Sharbot Lake. This event takes place at Oso Hall (Soldier’s Memorial Hall) and is being billed as a “Renewable Energy Information Night.” It is being sponsored by “Country Know How” and is free and begins at 7:30 p.m.

Cam will be giving two gardening workshops at Burt’s Greenhouses in Odessa this spring. On Saturday, May 22 at 11 a.m. and on Sunday, May 30 at 2 p.m. Cam will present a beginner’s vegetable gardening talk. Burt’s Greenhouses are located at 539 Maple Road in Odessa and admission is free.

On Saturday, June 5 The 2nd Tamworth Green Energy Fair will take place. Cam has invited various guests to speak on topics related to renewable energy in your home and farm, such as solar thermal, solar electric, geothermal, etc. Workshops will run throughout the day at the Legion and vendors’ booths will be set up throughout the town.

Finally, Cam will be a speaker this year at EcoFest Barrie taking place on Saturday, June 12. His talk is scheduled for 1 pm. Check their website for more details.
